How to fix a paper jam | Sharp Photocopier

If you’ve worked in an office you know all too well the frustration of walking up to the photocopier to retrieve your document only to be greeted with that dreaded crunching sound.

Luckily with today’s modern printers and photocopiers the process to fix a paper jam is much easier than you think, with a little patience you’ll be back printing in no time.

Firstly, don’t panic and try to force the paper out. If you try to forcibly pull it out most likely the paper will rip and you risk damaging the photocopier.

Step 1

  • Check the duplex tray on the side of the photocopier. Gently pull out any jams which may be there.

Step 2

  • Open the side panel – only touch parts which are bright green. Take care around the fuser unit as this may be very hot.

Step 3

  • Check the small hatch on the side of the device, found under the main side panel. Gently pull out any jams which may be there.

Step 4

  • Use the green crank to push out any jams in the main side area – do not pull them out yet as the paper may tear.

Step 5

  • Gently pull out the jam once it’s mostly been fed through.

Step 6

  • Use the green ‘star-screw’ to feed the jam through. Turn this in the direction it displays with an arrow

Step 7

  • Gently pull out the jam once it’s mostly been fed through.

Step 8

  • Gently pull out any jams from the paper catch area (behind the screen).

Step 9

  • Close the side panel.
